It is Holy Monday and today is the day that Jesus goes with his disciples to the Temple in Jerusalem. This picture depicts God’s only Son fighting for His Father’s House. It was not the House of Prayer that God intends His Holy Temple to be, but rather Jesus found that it had been a place of corrupt business instead.
What do you think God was feeling as he watched His only Son enter the Temple, turning over tables, and declaring that His Father’s House shall be a House of Prayer?
Today’s Activity:
God desires a prayerful relationship with us. Because of Christ’s sacrifice, all who believe in Him have the Holy Spirit living within. Our bodies are now the Temple of the Lord. Declare your body and mind to be a House of Prayer!
If you do not already have a place in your home dedicated as your ‘prayer closet’, we invite you to anoint your home as a House of Prayer.
1. Get some oil- such as Olive Oil (1 TSP)
2. *Optional: mix a teaspoon of Olive Oil with an Essential Oil, such as Frankincense and/or Myrrh
3. Put a dab on the top of each doorway in your home and anoint all your entryways declaring that your home is dedicated to the Lord and is a House of Prayer!
4. Go one step further and find that special place that you would like to use as a ‘prayer closet’ or ‘prayer chair’. Put a Bible there, some notecards or a journal, perhaps a candle and/or anything you would like that makes it special to you.
5. Your kids (if applicable) can find a special place for themselves as well! Have them pray their first prayer in their special place and remind them often!
6. Pray! Ask the Lord how He feels about what you have done to engage with Him today and/or to lead you to a verse in the Bible that He wants to share with you!
7. Play the song below! It is a powerful, declarative song to sing your home and in your sacred prayer place!
8. Record in your journal or on notes what you and the Lord have shared in Prayer!
*Monday's events are recorded in Matthew 21:12–22, Mark 11:15–19, Luke 19:45-48, and John 2:13-17.
